Pioneering BHQ Beneficiation

We are at the forefront of driving sustainable solutions for steel production throughout the value chain. By becoming the first in the
country, Lloyds Metals has pioneered advanced beneficiation technology to upgrade BHQ (Banded Hematite Quartzite) into a high-grade iron concentrate, unlocking its true potential as a valuable resource for the steel industry. Exemplifying a waste-to-wealth strategy, BHQ, a low-grade iron ore with iron bands of hematite and quartzite ranging from microns to millimetres in size, typically contains 20-35% iron, making its direct use in steelmaking impractical, is now being converted into high-grade iron ore in our facility at Hedri.

This initiative aligns with our broader vision of sustainable mining and value addition, reducing waste, minimizing environmental impact, and supporting the nation’s growing steel demand with an innovative, eco-friendly approach.

Key Benefits of BHQ Beneficiation

Higher-grade iron ore from BHQ beneficiation enhances steelmaking efficiency, reducing reliance on energy-intensive processes like sintering and coke-making. This leads to:

Beneficiation of BHQ allows mining operations to extract more iron content from thesame land area, improving resource efficiency. By upgrading low-grade ore tohigh-grade concentrates, we are maximising output without increasing land footprint.This reduces environmental disruption and ensures sustainable land management.

Our state-of-the-art Iron Ore Grinding Unit: A testament to our commitment to efficiency and innovation.

Our plant boasts an impressive 10 MTPA capacity, meticulously designed with two independent circuits, each capable of processing 5 MTPA. This dual-circuit configuration ensures unparalleled operational flexibility and reliability. We exclusively utilize high-grade iron ore fines (>63%) meticulously sourced from the renowned Surjagarh Iron Ore Mines. This premium raw material undergoes a sophisticated grinding process, transforming it into a high-quality slurry for further industrial applications.

The design of our grinding circuit incorporates advanced technology for optimal performance. Key components include a Ball Mill for efficient grinding, a Thickener for dewatering, Ultra Fine Screens and Double Deck Screens for precise particle size classification, and a Screw Classifier for further separation. Our robust material handling system features a Stacker & Reclaimer for efficient management of raw materials. Furthermore, our operations are supported by a reliable water supply sourced from the Bande River, located just 5 kilometers from our site, ensuring sustainable and consistent production.
