Drawing from our proven blueprint in India, Lloyds is replicating its success in the DRC by intertwining large-scale mineral production with deep-rooted community development. At the heart of its African operations—spanning the Surya Mines and the Chemaf Group—is a commitment to the “Social License to Operate,” where local acceptance is earned through transparency and tangible socio-economic impact. By implementing sustainable mining practices and ESG frameworks we are focusing on local employment, healthcare infrastructure, and ethical operations. This strategy ensures that as the company scales to meet the global demand for copper and cobalt, it does so not just as an extractor, but as a long-term partner in the DRC’s industrial and social evolution.
In March 2026, LMEL further solidified its DRC footprint through the acquisition of the Chemaf Group via Virtus Lloyds Minerals Holding (VLMH).
